National Dog Day

I made Shiro some homemade dog treats a couple days ago with my sister as a token of appreciation for the past 7 years of friendship and puppy love.

It was easy!

We ground 2 cups dry brown rice into flour (because white flour isn’t that healthy for dogs), mashed up 1 can of peas and carrots, and mixed everything with 1 cup of peanut butter.

Then we baked the batter in tiny circle molds at 350 degrees for 10 minutes a dozen.

We made 3 batches – that’s 36 treats!

It was pretty funny. Shiro was skeptical at first since we’ve never really used the treat system before, so he came up and smelled them for a few minutes and backed away. But after a tiny taste, Shiro immediately grabbed the treats out of our hands and ran off to devour them.
